Performance Physical Therapy
More Than Rehab. It’s a Return to Performance.
— No Referral Needed —
Free Discovery Visit
A starting point for athletes who want to understand what’s going on — and what it will take to get back to sport.
-
Not every injury requires a full rehabilitation plan. But many athletes aren’t sure whether what they’re dealign with is something that will resolve on its own, or something that needs professional guidance.
Our Discovery Visit provides an opportunity to meet with a physical therapist, discuss your injury, an determine the best next step.
This visit is designed to help you gain clarity and direction without feeling pressured to commit to treatment before you understand your options.
-
During this 30-minute session, your physical therapist will:
discuss your injury history and symptoms
perform a brief movement and functional screen
identify likely contributing factors to the issue
answer questions about training, activities or sport participation
explain what an effective recovery plan would typically involve
The goal is to determine whether physical therapy is appropriate and, if so, what the path forward would look like.
-
The Discovery Visit is intended as a consultation and injury screening, not a full physical therapy evaluation. It does not include:
formal medical documentation
a complete diagnostic evaluation
hands-on treatment
If treatment is appropriate, your physical therapist will recommend the most effective net step — which for many athletes is our Return-to-Performance Rehab Program.
-
The Discovery visit is a great option for athletes who:
recently developed pain or an injury and aren’t sure how serious it is
want to know if physical therapy would help
want guidance on how to safely continue training or sport
are considering starting rehab but want to understand the process first
-
At Athletic Advantage, we believe athletes should feel confident about their recovery plan before committing to treatment.
The Discovery Visit gives you the opportunity to ask questions, understand your injury, and decide on the best path forward — all in a relaxed, athlete-focused environment.
Return-to-Performance Rehab Program
Structured rehabilitation designed to guide athletes from injury to confident return to sport.
-
Most sports injuries don’t resolve in a single visit.
They require a thoughtful progression of treatment, strength development, and return-to-play preparation. At Athletic Advantage, we designed our Return-to-Performance Rehab Program to guide athletes through that entire process — not just the early stages of injury recovery.
Instead of asking athletes to schedule visits one at a time, our program provides a clear plan of care from the start, allowing both athlete and clinician to focus entirely on recovery and performance.
-
Traditional insurance-based rehabilitation models are built around billing visits. Athletes often experience:
short appointments
multiple patients treated at once
visit limits dictated by insurance
pressure to discharge when benefits run out
rehabilitation that stops once pain improves — not when performance is restored
At Athletic Advantage, we believe athletes deserve a better process.
Our program is designed around how injuries actually recover, allowing the physical therapist to guide the entire progression from injury to full return to play.
-
Program Length: Approximately 8 weeks
Program Cost: $995 total
Payment Structure: Two monthly installments of $498
The program includes a structured progression of care designed to restore:
Mobility
Strength
Stability
Neuromuscular control
Sport-specific readiness
Rather than focusing on a strict visit count, care is delivered according to clinical need and progress through the rehabilitation process.
Most athletes will attend approximately 8 treatment sessions over the course of the program, with frequency tapering as independence and return-to-sport readiness increase.
-
While every injury and athlete is different, most successful rehab plans follow a progression similar to the one below:
Weeks 1-2 — Higher frequency treatment to reduce pain, restore mobility, and begin controlled loading.
Weeks 3-4 — Transition toward strength development and improved movement control.
Weeks 5-6 — Athletes increasingly perform exercises independently while continuing targeted progression.
Weeks 7-8 — Final return-to-sport preparation and reassessment to ensure readiness for full activity.
This progression allows the athlete to build resilience, confidence, and capacity — not simply reduce symptoms.
-

-

return-to-play after time away from sport
chronic injuries requiring structured progression
It is designed for:
youth and high school athletes

-

independent training
ongoing performance coaching within Athletic Advantage
occasional follow-up visits as needed
-
At Athletic Advantage, we believe:
Rehabilitation should not be rushed.
Visits should not be dictated by insurance limitations.
Athletes deserve a clear plan and professional guidance.
The Return-to-Performance Rehab Program allows us to provide that structure while keeping care focused on outcomes, not visit counts.
-
If you’re dealing with an injury and want a clear path back to sport, schedule an initial assessment with our physical therapy team to begin your Return-to-Performance Rehab Program.

More Turf. Less Waiting Room
Why Cash-Based?
Most clients pay less overall for cash-based care — while receiving more time, better outcomes, and faster progress
Traditional Model
Rates vary by insurance contract, deductible, and facility fees
Care delegated to aides or techs
Increased visit frequency, often driven by billing limits, not clinical need
After deductibles & copays, many clients pay up to $1,200+ per episode of care
Must have a referral, pre-authorization, or certain diagnosis codes approved
Often restricted to what’s “covered”, not necessarily what’s most effective
Our Model
Simple, flat rate — no hidden fees, no surprise bills
One-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. No aides, no double-booking
Most clients average 6-8 visits, not 12-18. You pay only for what you need
Total cost less than many insurance-based plans after copays
No referral needed. Get started right away
We combine rehab, performance, and education for long-term results
“I could not have asked for a better PT experience”
“I’ve used other PT resources in this area and there is no comparison to quality of care.”

The good news is NO.
We are an out-of-network provider, meaning we do not directly participate with any insurance plans. This is a good thing. Many insurance companies do offer out-of-network benefits; and if you choose to submit for reimbursement with your insurance, we’ll provide an invoice that includes your diagnostic and treatment codes. If you’re curious about this option, call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask, “What are my out-of-network physical therapy benefits?”
-
By being out-of-network, insurance cannot dictate the care that you receive. You can be treated like the individual that you are. You get quality time with the clinician, the care that you actually need, and no unexpected bill with additional charges.
Another benefit of out-of-network care is that, if needed, we can also spend time working on wellness, return-to-sport, and performance improvement activities. These are not reimbursed in traditional clinics and therefore rarely, if ever, offered. Patients who’ve experienced a cash-based model often report needing less visits and a quicker return to activity.
More personalized care and faster results… It's better for you. It’s better for us.
-
Because we do not participate in Medicare (a federal government program), we cannot provide therapy services for Medicare patients. Ouch, right?
That said, it is possible to participate in a wellness/maintenance program, which is not considered a medical treatment by Medicare. If you’re interested, send us an email or set up a phone call so we can chat more about how this works.
-
Yes! … (that was an easy one)
-
Nope! North Carolina is what’s called a direct-access state, meaning you can directly access a Doctor of Physical Therapy without needing a referral from another provider.
Don’t worry, we’re trained to screen for red flags or conditions that are outside our scope of practice and will refer accordingly. In many cases, we can help you get an appointment with other providers sooner than you would trying to call on your own.
Many athletes unknowingly delay their time to treatment by getting (often unnecessary) urgent care visits, orthopedic appointments, and expensive imaging, ultimately just to be referred to Physical Therapy anyways!
Save time. Save money. Feel better faster. Come see us!
-
Nope. And this is something you should totally take advantage of. What’s the best way to treat an injury? … Prevent it in the first place! Physical Therapists are movement experts. We excel at identifying movement dysfunctions and imbalances that may be causing a current injury, or can lead to future injury.
We also provide performance therapy designed to optimize your body and enhance performance. Want to perform better? Schedule today!
